Gaming tower

The only station whose machine you pick part by part. Here the fast monitor and the audio are half the experience, and no dock or stand is worth anything.

What to know about THIS setup

  • Go out over DisplayPort, always. It is what holds 1440p at 144 Hz or more; the card's HDMI is kept for the television.
  • The refresh rate is chosen by the build you made, not by the budget. Measured at 1440p in big games: «The minimum» averages 78 frames and «The balanced one» 87, so a 100 Hz monitor is already more than enough there and the 180 or 200 Hz ones are for competitive players, not for what you will be playing most of the time. From «1440p with no compromises» upwards — 106, 116 and 116 — you do use them. None of them is hidden from this list: the number is there so you decide.
  • These builds carry AMD graphics, which on Linux is the best experience there is and asks for nobody's driver.
